Dr. Barnett's 2020 Vision

Education
I'm an advocate for equitable resources and funding in all K12 schools.  Teachers should have in depth PD's and training's to provide effective teaching to students.  Students should be provided with 21st learning skills, such as; computer science, artificial intelligence, virtual reality, career and technical education, and all the other general content areas to compete in a global society.  When schools are provided with equitable resources for both the teacher and students the culture and climate of the schools become more conducive to learning, which has a tremendous impact on the school and its community.

Proper Medical Care for Seniors
As a caregiver for my mom, who was a 2 time Breast Cancer survivor, I know how critical it is to have proper medical care for seniors.  Seniors may need help in understanding their medications, insurance coverage, and best practices for maintaining their overall health.

Job Training
Individuals that are out of the job market for a number of years, may need assistance in gaining the skills needed to be successful.

Support Small business Growth and Sustenance
Small business owners and/or  individuals seeking to start a business should have access to a quick and easy  process, along with the resources to help sustain their existence.

Gun Reform
I believe in the 2nd amendment, right to bear arms.  However, there should be commonsense laws that require background checks and restriction on the type of fire arms that can be purchased.

Crime and Violence
There is no one approach to address the crime and violence, which happens every day across our cities and neighborhoods.  However, research will show, when communities are provided with funding for job training, education, and employment opportunities, crime and violence will start to decrease.
